Cleon V. Harper, 65, of Azusa was picked up by Azusa PD on suspicion of 10 counts of child molestation.
Harper was a substitute teacher for a fourth-grade class at WR Powell Elementary School. Children complained to their parents after sitting in Harper’s class.
The arrest was the culmination of a week-long investigation by Azusa authorities.
This guy may have been a professor at APU, according to a cursory records search.

Another guy who shares the name sits on the board of a group known as “Stepping Stones for Women” The Motto of the group: “Providing handles of hope to single mothers and their children.”
Those organizations have to be vetty careful in recruiting workers and supporters (ie board members, too)Perpetrators usually like to be as close as possible to their source.

As much as I hate child abusers(on the top of most people’s lists), this man has already been convicted by you. Tell me, should he move into the clown house, right away?
With up to 10 counts do you really think that this guy is being wrongfully accused? How many alleged sex offenders do you know to say that he doesn’t look like one. Maybe if there was only one or even two allegations then you might wait and see but with 10. Can that many children be make this up. I am Mrs. Melton;a mother of one of the students in the 4th grade Class Mr. Harper substituted that day in question- and let me just say this..I know my child is not telling a false story/or a lie, You know how I know this?(As a mother)because when my child took me by the hand & in the manner in which he did this; with a seriousness in his actions & the tone in his little voice as he told me how he had a sub at school that Friday; and while in class he had raised his hand to ask the teacher if he could get up to get a drink of water and was allowed to by Mr. Harper & thats when he said,”He grabbed my private parts in the front” then if that wasn’t enough–My son proceeds to tell me (the same day)He once more raised his hand to ask to sharpen his pencil & Mr. Harper agreed and while doing so,”Harper then he says touched his rear-end.” Now imagine these exact words being told to you by your 10 yr.old son; Who until that moment has never utter words such as this & to hear him tell you something of this nature with the humility in his voice & embarrassment he couldnt help but show on his face…There is NO Way in Hell that this is made up by my child,or the other innocent kids in this class. Do you think?? WAKE UP People!

Well what can I say that no one has already, we all have heard the negatives and the positives about this case and all I can say is that this man will have to spend the rest of his life paying for what he did to these children; If it is by him going to jail or if he is to actually be announced not guilty, I will see that his life out of jail is hell. I will take his actions and bring them out along with trying to change the law about school and people like him. I will not let a man like this take one more step into our school system or close to another child again. From this moment on this man and every other child abuser out there will wish that they would have thought there actions thru more carefully. MAN! im a senior in high school but i went to this elementary school when i was a kid. that is friggin crazy! i never thought that would happen, especially not at POWELL!
