"Get over yourself"

I received the email below after posting this entry on the homicide in Arcadia. I've redacted the writer's name because its unimportant.
Here's the letter:
I think it's interesting how very glib you are being about this murder. Have you been to the area of the crime, Canyon Road? Do you really think it's "ritzy"? What a ridiculous word to describe an area of canyon homes- they are for the most part not ostentatious, not shiny, not over the top. The word "ritzy" immediately sets you up to look immature and not objective. Is this murder any less horrifying because it happened in Arcadia?
Get over yourself.

Frank,
Gotta compliment you for printing something that isn't a compliment, big plus for you.
Ray
Thanks for sharing. My take, if you got a pool in the back yard you sho ain't po folk and what are they trying to do with the letter?
If Monrovia can be described as crime riddened and gang infested (which is dramatically overblown) I dont see why an area of multi-million dollar homes/mansions set in a canyon location cant be described as "ritzy". Descriptions of the area where a crime occurs are simply apart of the story they don't minimize or emphasis the crime. Get over YOUR self.
I've learned in the past few days that when those closest to the crime hear/read certain things, you look for something ... an outlet for how you feel... the pain, the anguish... journalists are journalists and always impersonal... oh the way ENG works nowadays... oh the way ENG works... I guess editors are necessary on the paper end?
