Young woman shot to death in Pasadena

We’ve posted a story about a young Pasadena woman who was shot to death in the 1800 block of East Villa Avenue in Pasadena Tuesday night.

The woman’s name was not released. She was taken from the scene of the shooting to Huntington Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

It is Pasadena’s second homicide in 2008.

Osman Villalobos, 18, was stabbed to death at 1388 Iowa Ave. in Pasadena on Sunday, June 16. Villalobos had been stabbed during an argument with another man over a girlfriend. Police later arrested Pasqual Diaz, 22, on suspicion of murder.

  1. I was with Pasadena PD last night on a ride along. First call came in before 10PM. We were there by the time the young lady was removed. The officer I rode with was there about an hour interviewing neighbors. At one point there was over 18 officers, detectives, commanders present making sure that whomever shot the woman was found.

Still for a city of that size, two homicides is still better than Monrovia.

Pics of the ride along, most from the crime scene that I could access is on my flickr set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/frazgo/sets/72157606852162635/

Full post will go live on metblogs later today.

  2. Wow, I drove by this crime scene last night and was wondering what happened. It’s very disturbing to me as I live half a mile from there. Have any more details surfaced about the motive or suspect(s)?

    Thanks,
    Local Resident

  3. I also live a little over 1/2 mile away. I know that there’s a nuisance liquor store at that intersection – it attracts some very unsavory looking people into the immediate neighborhood.

  4. I also live within a mile of that location. I’ve come across some shady punks and other gang type people over the last couple of years.

I would really like to see more of a police presence in this area. As it seems to this point there is rarely a police car in the area. Maybe this cold blooded murder of a young girl getting shot “multiple” times in the back will change that.

And maybe it’s time to move.
