One arrested in slaying of 12-year-old

Montebello police Chief Dan Weast called to say that officers have made an arrest in the double homicide that shocked the city over summer.

Twelve-year-old Albert Anthony Garcia and his father Juan were gunned down at a graduation party on June 21. Two others were injured in the shooting. Several weeks ago I wrote a column criticizing the Montebello PD for a lack of progress in the case.

Looks like they’ve proved me wrong.

  1. Finally, it’s about time that we are hearing good news of the police searching for those responsible of the slaying of my nephew Albert and my brother Juan.

Hopefully, there will be some justice soon.

  2. I am sure no old white people were arrested for this cowardly crime. The police were probably looking for and profiling young latinos who look like cholos. Good job Montebello Police, too bad our court system moves so slow and doesn’t quicky prosecute and execute these low life cowardly killers of an innocent 12 year old.

  3. Glad to here that the police is finally doing their job. My heart goes out to the family. They are in my prayers.
