There's an elaborate hoax making the rounds in the SGV  regarding In-N-Out's 60th birthday coming up later this month. An e-mail received by many boldly proclaims all-time low prices:

In-n-Out's 60th Year Anniversary is Wednesday, October 22nd. All hamburgers will be sold for 25 cents, Cheeseburgers 30 cents, Fries 15 cents, and drinks are 10 cents!!! So mark your calendars!

Responding to the hoax, In-N-Out issued a statement late Thursday:

Thank God for In-N –Out, the only place where you can eat a true American hamburger in La Puente. But where can we go for American Dinner? How many ways can you fry a taco? And it doesn't matter what the menu says beans taste like beans no matter what you sprinkle on them or how spicy you make them. Please tell me where I can go in La Puente, to order a T-bone steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and melt-in your mouth biscuits.
No matter the price of gas I will travel out of La Puente for an American meal I can enjoy without the accompaniment if a blaring jukebox and ear splitting TV both playing at the same time.
