Man charged in fatal hammer attack

I moved back to the Boyle Heights area as part of getting "back to my roots"...what a mistake that was! There have been so many shootings and killings in the "Breed Street" area that it is out of control..the streets were cleaned up a few years back...now it seems as if it's starting all over again...all I ask is why? I thought the Metroline moving in would change things, but it hasn't..What a shame!

I used to know that guy!he used to bug me and my sister.wow i guess u never really know someone.you know how they say he was a nice kid?he was but really annoying oh man that sucks!

I knew Adam too...since middle school. Since then I haven't seen him. Damn who knew Adamn would have ever done this. I wonder why he killed his friend. And yeah, Boyle Heights is a very dangerous place to live.

do you really think the mayor of the city would have put out a $50,000.00, to find this guy if my newphew was a bad guy.. we us tax payers are paying for him to go to trail, his next court date is 3/4 and for what if they found all evidence.."fernie" was a very good and funny and lovable kid

The next court date for adam is on march 5, 2009 I will be there for my fernie, and to see the look on adam's face when he's told the fate to the begining of the end of whatever he calls a life. A nd i think to why keep brinning him back and forth to court each time he goes to court the department gets an extra $100 and for what to carry him back and forth. What are they waiting for stop waisting time and tax payers money and put some closure somewhere.

I will be at Adam Quintana’s next court date-just like I was at his other court date. I also want to see his face when they sentence him-he did something that is just so unforgiving-what gave him the right to take Fernie's life? And why? Fernie had dreams-he wanted to become a teacher! He wanted to help kids fulfill their dreams by educating them, helping them reach for the stars. Fernie also had a love for music and playing the drums. I want Adam to know that Fernie will never be forgotten, because when he awakes every morning behind bars and with every breath he takes he will remember FERNIE GARCIA and the reason why he is going to spend the rest of his life behind bars or what ever it may be. He will never be free again you are where you belong. Fernie lives in my heart. (You called yourself Fernie's friend some F---en Friend you are. you didn't even give him a chance to defend himself you coward.

I don't know Fernie, and Adam I only know of through mutual friends. What I do know is that killing someone is never a justifiable act, It's MURDER!!! I hope that anyone who knows the least bit of information or what went on to come clean. This was a very tragic event that occured and I can only hope that justice will prevail whatever that may be...may the truth surface and free those IF wrongly accused and punish those who committed/involved this awful inhumane act...My condolences to Fernies family.

No one, except for Fernie, Adam and God know what really happened between them that night. The only thing that can be said for certain is that a man was brutally murdered.

Their sexual orientation should not matter. Who called who more, who wanted who, and who was threatening who, does not matter. What does matter is that there is a family missing a son.

To Fernie's family and friends you have my condolences. I never met him, but a death of a loved one is never easy. There is a lot of anger in these posts. Anger is not going to bring Fernie back. Argueing is not going to bring Fernie back. The damage has been done. Perhaps the only good that has came out of all this is that Adam was caught. He didn't get away with anything. What Adam did is horrible and unforgivable, but I believe that it's time for Fernie's family and friends to erase Adam from their memory. Remember Fernie and everything wonderful that he did and was to you.

I did know Adam, briefly, and he looked like a normal guy. With that being said, I always thought there was something unsettling about him. Every time I looked in his eyes I knew something wasn't right, but I was never able to put my finger on it. When I saw Adam on the 10 o'clock news I was caught off guard, but not at all surprised.

I think a lot of people here are in denial. Adam did it. You know it. He knows it. He wouldn't be in jail if he didn't. If David had any involvement with this, as has been suggested, he will get his. One way or another.

Personally, I'm glad Adam was convicted. No matter what was happening between them or if Adam was high, is no reason to take another person's life.
