Monrovia flare up

Nate McIntire chronicles Monday’s shooting on Sherman by interviewing witnesses, cops and Monrovia PIO Dick Singer.

Singer’s comments are perhaps most telling. He says nothing about the fear induced by ongoing racial tensions in the neighborhood and instead points the finger at Crip gang members who suppossedly live in the home where Sanders “Pete” Rollins was shot to death last year.

Here’s a link to Nate’s story. Below, Dick Singer’s interesting quote:

“That house has always been a hotbed of gang activity, anyway,” he said. “Crips live there.”

I guess that justifies the shooting…

  1. Wow, talk about adding insult injury… how very insulting. I have known Ms. Youngblood for a while and she is definitely not a gang member. She has been a resident for over 20 years and has raised both children and grandchildren in her home. I would advise her to get the ACLU or a lawyer involved. Not only are these statements insensitive and discriminating, it also inaccurately states that members of a known gang live there, therefore opening up the potential for rival gang members not only from Monrovia and Duarte, but from surrounding cities in LA county, to once again target the residence, the city and the area for extreme violence. Do yourself a favor and fight back because these statement are just…..bad and dead wrong.
