Feds probe Cardinal Mahoney in sex abuse scandal

| | Comments (4) |

The Los Angeles Times reports that the U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles has opened up a probe of Cardinal Roger Mahoney for his role in the sex abuse scandal that rocked the Archdiocese in recent years. Here's a portion of the story that appears on the Time's Web site this afternoon:

mahoney.jpgThe U.S. attorney in Los Angeles has launched a federal grand jury investigation into Cardinal Roger M. Mahony in connection with his response to the alleged molestation of children by priests in the Los Angeles Archdiocese, according to two law enforcement sources familiar with the case.

The probe, in which U.S. Atty. Thomas P. O'Brien is personally involved, is aimed at determining whether Mahony, and possibly other church leaders, committed "honest services fraud" by failing to adequately deal with priests accused of sexually abusing children, said the sources, who requested anonymity because they are not authorized to speak publicly about the investigation.

Let's not forget Pasadena's own Bishop G Patrick Ziemann and his wacky antics.

Why doesn't the Star News cover this story when both the Times and the Daily news have. Mahony has friends in Pasadena?

THE CATHOLIC’S PEDOPHILLIA HOLOCOST
From the walls of justice and common sense comes Father Thomas Doyle within the ranks of the many catholic Priest who are now speaking out, he stands a man of great stature and his commitment to end the cover up of innocent children at the hands of pedophile‘s is unquestionable and admirable. His past would not bring light to the vows of celiseby but rather the cover-up of 1.000’s of victims of some of the most heinous crimes ever known to mankind. “Betrayal of trust, violation of the pastoral contract, soul murder, rape, sexual assault, character assassination, slander and financial mismanagement in the name of religion are some of the abuses that people are up in arms about. These issues will not go away, nor will they be rectified unless drastic changes take place, primarily on the part of the church's leadership

The stories of victims were similar in each locale. A priest abuser would befriend a family, attaching himself to a minor, grooming him with gifts and friendship, then abusing the unsuspecting child. The response of the church was similar as well. Church officials, bishops and cardinals, would receive reports of abusive priests, transfer them to another parish, tell the families that the incident was isolated and that they would “fix” the problem.
In many instances, the families would be instructed not to talk about the abuse and pray for the pedophile priest. In other instances, the victims would suffer in silence and try to cope as best they could with the abuse.
Their lives were marred with alcoholism, broken relationships, drug abuse, and feelings of inadequacy, suicide, isolation, and loss of faith.
The Church’s response to the victims has been to deny their abuse, minimize it, attack them for saying something bad about a priest, or telling the victim that the abuse was there fault. Pedophile Priest whistleblower Father Thomas Doyle states that Cardinal Mahoney has ‘done nothing’ to help victims of pedophile priests

As the documentary reveals, Pope Benedict XVI led the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith (formerly known as the Inquisition) from 1981 to 2005, and one of his duties was to protect children from being harmed by priests. Unfortunately, he did a very poor job, and numerous lawsuits have been brought against the Church as a result. He was "accused of conspiracy to cover up sexual abuse" in the US and was granted "immunity from prosecution" by President Bush.
The raping of a innocent child’s soul can not be measured in dollars and cents but it can be measured in justice and common sense. That is why we need to Lic. and Polygraph all people who regularly come in contact with children.

The problem has been escalating in the Archdiocese and around the world since Vatican II. The continued ordination of homosexual priest's in overflow numbers will continue to be a scandal and blight within the Church, until such time as "Rome" sees fit to end the madness that has been perpetrated by unprincipled and wayward church hierarchy. The reason these bishops have covered up for these homosexual pedophile priests for decades is because "they" themselves are flaming homosexuals! This is a reality and anyone with half a brain stem who has been active in the church and especially if they have ever been a seminarian or former religous can attest too. It has been almost a prerequisite before entrance to the seminary or a religious community that you are gay. The people who are screening you and admitting candidates are homosexuals and despise heterosexual conservative Catholic men and women! The old-boy homosexual network of throwing out the wheat and retaining the chaff, has been going on for decades in this country, and shall we say" the proof is in the pudding". Scandal after scandal, shame and mockery by the media and cynics of our Church laugh us to scorn and are revelling in the negativity that has been swirling around the Church, due to the horrific actions by a score of men who should never have been ordained in the first place! What powers of discernment do our Catholic leaders have when they continue to see this problem and yet do nothing to ameliorate it. I am a devout Catholic and am repulsed, shamed and disgusted with the leaders of my Church, who have stood by idly while children were violated and there faith destroyed. How dare ANYONE ever blame the child or victim of clergy abuse for speaking out and seeking settlement for these monstrous acts.
