Sheriff's homicide detectives have been dispatched to the scene, according to Sheriffs Sgt. Barry Hall.

Here's the updated story as we know it:

SAN GABRIEL - At least one person is dead after a shooting at a coffee house in the 700 block of East Valley Boulevard late Thursday, authorities said.

The shooting, which occurred about 11:20 p.m., injured as many as six people, authorities said. Two masked men reportedly opened fire in the crowded restaurant, authorities said.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide officials have been dispatched, Sheriff's Sgt. Barry Hall said.

"We're rolling," Hall said.

San Gabriel Fire Batallion Chief Bryan Frieders said there were multiple gunshot victims at the location. Of those three were listed in critical condition and two were listed in stable condition, he said.

The shooting took place inside a coffee house, Freiders said.

"It's a little cafe right there at the corner," he said.

In all engine companies from ALhambra, Monterey Park and San Marino responded to the shooting, Freiders said.

"We had four engine companies, four paramedic ambulances and two basic life support units on the scene,' he said. It sepaks to the effectiveness of mutual response."

No victim or suspect descriptions were available. The shooters fled the scene in an unknown direction.

No further details are available.

The City of San Gabriel is teeming with asian gang activity. Hispanic gangs like Sangra are no longer a threat they have almost no power. Asian Boys (AB), Vietnamese Boys (VB), 4 Seas, West Side V-Boys (WSVB) etc. There are hundreds of small businesses that are fronts for asian gang money laundering schemes, there are too many mom and pops shops that "sell" products that no longer have a market. How can a type-writer repair shop still be in business all these years? Don't even get me started about Maguire's Bar/night club/brothel and the whore house New Century Inn. The City Council needs to stop hoarding the millions of dollars for themselves and the San Gabriel County Club and finance an adequate and effective police force with an organized gang task force. there are only around 45 police officers for a city whose population is well over 150,000. i advise any citizen of san gabriel to go on a ride-along with a member of the san gabriel police department so they can see that there are no more than four patrol cars active during a 24 hr. shift. San Gabriel is a safe haven for asian gangsters this shooting is an incident that will be the first of many

All the San Gabriel Police Dept is good for is hanging at the local 7-11, and pulling people over for speeding and writing tickets. They obviously can't handle homicide crimes because the Sheriff has to come in. And the city, don't even get me started. They can't even pave all the streets, with all the money they hoard from Valley Blvd, you would think the city would at least be well off. I've been living on a street that hasn't been paved for millions of years. Obviously something is wrong with the city and there are definitely shady businesses operating in the area.

I would expect most of the cities with independent police forces call the sheriff in for 187's. They have resources most smaller police departments can't afford.

BTW, San Gabriel's population is about 40,000, which is not "well over 150,000."

San Gabriel Police are way to slow to respond to calls there so dumb that they cant even catch any purse snatchers in the act. Trust and believe SANGRA is still an threat to many there still strong and organize to the fullest
