Man shot at San Dimas park dies
SAN DIMAS -- A 28-year-old man shot and wounded at a gang picnic at Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park Saturday died from his wounds at a hospital shortly after the shooting, officials said.
His name was not released Sunday pending notification of his family members, coroner's officials said.
The man was shot several times as he congregated with about 30 other young people on the north side of the park, Los Angeles County police Sgt. Brian Decker said.
The group was believed to be mainly members of a Compton street gang having a barbecue, he said.
The wounded man was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival, Los Angeles County sheriff's officials said.
Another woman, who was estimated to be in her early 20s, was also wounded in the shooting, Decker said.
She was dropped off at a local hospital by a private vehicle in unknown condition, he said.
Los Angeles County sheriff's Deputy Derrick Thompson said the shooting was the result of an argument.
The shooter was described only as a man who arrived and left the area in a gray vehicle, Decker said.
The others at the barbecue were not cooperating with investigators Saturday, he said.

Sad to hear, must of ran out of food for the q'
Dawg's comment was heartless. The victime was my cousin father of 6 month twins, he was employed and could make anyone laugh. I don't know what the arguement was about. I know he had no gun or weapon, I know nothing could be worth it. Nobody cares until it happens to someone in their family. People are involved in this stupid gang stuff and claiming this and that and for what. Citizens who pay taxes and work hard to care for their families. I wish the national guard would come to california and kick doors and put them all on the chain gang and let them sleep in tents like in arizona. It's just too much
just to let the public know that Trayvon was a consuelor for ex gang members and that he also work for homeboy industry. yes my family is sadden but i hope that young man that did this has no rest and no peace and what he need to do is turn himself in, this is a small world.
I AM SORRY TO HEAR THE TRAGIC NEWS, MY CONDOLENCES GOES OUT TO HIS FAMILY AND LOVED ONES, HE WAS A VERY INTELLIGENT YOUNG MAN, WE ARE ALL AT A LOSS RIGHT NOW,
WORDS CANNOT EXPLAIN WHATS GOING THROUGH OUR BRAINS, MAY HE REST IN PEACE
