Another take on the slaying of Lily Burk

Celeste Fremon over at Witness LA, takes apart local coverage of the Lily Burk homicide, and breaks down the criminal history of suspect Charlie Samuel, a 50-year-old transient charged in the slaying.

Her blog entry doesn't appear to be a defense of Samuel, but it sure castigates the local media for sensationalizing the suspect's criminal past.

She's really on a tightrope--how to sympathize with Lily's family and yet retain her tight grip on her "Our Lady of the Dispossessed " crown.

For a woman who's never lived west of Bundy (except when she went to USC), she's pretty sure that Skid Row is full of wonderful caring people who would never harm HER.

Typical white lady.

The criminal justice system is flawed at best. It dubs non-violent offenders as violent and then hands out stiff sentences for "strikes" that shouldnt be considered strikes at all.

We need reform of the three strikes laws in california.
Only convictions for violent crimes- not crimes where violence might occur but doesnt- should be considered strikes, and convictions for any drug related offense where there is no violence should not be have the strike sentencing attached.....especially on a third strike
W need change alright and Obama is NOT it
