Sheriff’s deputies trade “Gifts for Guns” in Industry

INDUSTRY — Industry sheriff’s officials collected nearly 100 unwanted guns over the weekend, including 2 assault weapons, officials said.
“Gifts for Guns” was carried out Saturday and Sunday at the Mohan Dialysis Station, 15600 Stafford Street.
Deputies collected 33 rifles, one TEC-9 assault weapon, one SKS assault weapon, 46 handguns and 12 shotguns, Los Angeles County sheriff’s Sgt. Sonja Bracken said.
Donors were given gift cards from local retailers in exchange for the unwanted firearms, Bracken said.
Gift cards worth $100 were given for handguns, rifles and shotguns, while $200 gift cards were traded for assault weapons, the sergeant said.
