Sentencing postponed in fatal drunken street racing crash

Sentencing has been postponed until Tuesday for two men who involved in a drunken street racing crash in Rowland Heights that killed a 20-year-old woman who was a passenger in one of the cars, court officials said.
Ondrea Alvarez of Bellflower, who was on a first date with one of the drivers, was killed in the crash.
Elias Munoz, 21, of La Mirada and Brian Galvez, 24, of Rowland Heights pleaded guilty earlier this month in Pomona Superior Court to charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated in connection with the March 2, 2008 crash on Pathfinder Road in Rowland Heights.
The men were charged with racing each other after drinking at Joe’s Crab Shack in Industry. The restaurant has since had its liquor license suspended for 35 days over the incident, and a waiter received fines and community service after admitting selling alcohol to minors.
Alvarez was on a first date with Munoz.
According to Los Angeles County District Attorney’s officials, Galvez and Munoz are expected to be sentenced to 10 years in prison each when they return to court for sentencing.
