Alleged Monrovia gang member suspected of teen's shooting appears in court
An alleged Monrovia gang member accused of shooting and paralyzing a then-16-year-old boy in an unincorporated county area near Monrovia last year appeared in Alhambra Superior Court Friday.
Jimmy Santana, 20, was ordered to return to court Feb. 4 for a pre-trial hearing, Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Jane Robison said.
He is charged with shooting an badly wounding Davien Graham on Jan. 12, 2008, as he rode his bicycle in the 2500 block of Peck Road.
Santana allegedly shot Graham after mistaking him for a rival gang member, authorities said.
Santana is specifically named as a Monrovia Nuevo Varrio street gang member in a gang injunction approved Friday against both MNV and another area gang, the Du Roc Crips.
He is being held in lieu of $2 million bail.
