VALINDA -- Three would-be robbers fled empty-handed Wednesday after trying to rob a man at a Valinda gas station, officials said.
The crime occurred about 8:25 p.m. at a gas station at Hacienda Boulevard and Francisquito Avenue, Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Hiroshi Yokoyama said.
A man was inside the business when three young men motioned as if they had a gun and demanded money, the lieutenant said.
The victim ran from the robbers, who fled the area in a burgundy, 1990s-model Chevrolet Astro van, Yokoyama said.
Deputies described the failed robbers as three Latino men in their early 20s.
One was about 5 feet 6 inches tall, about 160 pounds, had black hair and wore a white t-shirt. No further description of the two other two was available.
