Man tries to kidnap girl on her way home from school

HACIENDA HEIGHTS -- Sheriff's deputies searched Wednesday for a man who allegedly attempted to kidnap an 11-year-old girl in Hacienda Heights on her way home from school, authorities said.
A man tried to grab the girl walking near the intersection of Countrywood Avenue and Wedgeworth Drive about 2:45 p.m., said Sgt. Hugo Macias. He missed her and the girl ran away, he said.
The heavy-set man in his 30s, possibly 6 feet tall and with a shaved head, was driving a dark green pickup truck, according to the girl's description to authorities.
Authorities are investigating it as an attempted kidnapping, Macias said.
