BASSETT -- A gunman shot and wounded an 18-year-old man Thursday in a residential neighborhood in Bassett, authorities said.
The shooting occurred about 5:15 p.m. in the 300 block of Workman Mill Road, according to sheriff's and fire officials.
The victim was standing in a driveway when he was shot, Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Hiroshi Yokoyama said.
He was shot in the back and stomach and hospitalized in stable condition, Los Angeles County Fire Department Capt. Larry Duran said.
The shooter was described as a Latino man in his early 20s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 200 pounds, Yokoyama said. He fled the area in a gray pickup truck, possibly a Ford.
A motive in the shooting was not immediately clear, the lieutenant said, however officials suspected the shooting may have been gang-related.
