PASADENA -- A man tried to rob a woman of her purse before successfully robbing a business owner Wednesday, police said.
The crimes occurred between 6:10 and 6:20 p.m. in the 1400 block of West Colorado Boulevard, Pasadena police Lt. Tom Delgado said.
The first crime occurred when the robbers tried, but failed, to steal a purse from a woman walking down the street, the lieutenant said.
About 10 minutes later, a business owner in the same neighborhood was walking to his office with the day's deposit when he was approached from behind by the robber.
The robber beat the man, mainly in the face, and stole the bag he was carrying which contained more than $500, Delgado said. The man declined to be hospitalized.
Police described the crook as a Latino man in his early 20s, about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, about 175 pounds and wearing dark clothes.
