Three men rob Rosemead bank

ROSEMEAD -- Three men escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash Friday after a takeover robbery inside a Rosemead bank branch, authorities said.
Two of the robbers jumped over the counter and emptied cash registers while a third stood by the door and guarded the security guard, said spokeswoman Lourdes Arocho of the FBI.
The crime occurred about 12:30 p.m. at the East West Bank, formerly known as the United Commercial Bank, 8632 Valley Blvd., Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lt. Tom McNeal said.
The robbers told the bank employees, "Do not move. Put your hands up. Give me the money," Arocho said.
Though no gun was seen, one of the robbers gestured as if he had a gun in his pocket, she added.
The robbers were last seen running from the bank with the stolen cash, McNeal said. No getaway car was seen.
They were described as three black men in their mid-20s, with masks covering the bottom portion of their faces, Arocho said. All were of medium build and between 5-feet, 8 inches and 6-feet tall, and all carried plastic grocery bags.
One of the robbers wore a grey hooded sweat shirt and blue jeans, according to the FBI.
The second robber wore a checkered flannel shirt, dark-colored pants and a baseball cap. The third wore a black hooded sweat shirt.
No one was injured.
Deputies interviewed bank customers and employees inside the bank for several hours following the heist. A crisis counselor was summoned to talk to the victims.
Customers of the bank declined to comment.
Arocho said officials were looking into the possibility Friday's robbery may have been the work of serial bandits, though it was too early to know for sure.
A group of counter-hopping bank robbers with a similar description known by the FBI as the "20 Questions Bandits" are currently being sought for seven bank robberies in El Monte, Thousand Oaks, Ventura, Oxnard, Westminster and San Clemente.

this robbery sounds just like the robbery that happened at a VONS store in Rancho Cucamonga in 2000, the same type of M.O. I wonder if the FBI crosschecks past robberies that occurred especially when the assailants get away. This particular VONS had a B of A inside the store. I believe the store was located off of Haven. It used to be a Top Value Store, then Vons replaced it.
