Stolen car, family photos returned to Arcadia woman

ARCADIA — An Arcadia woman who sought the public’s help after her car, along with irreplaceable family photos, was stolen got her vehicle and her pictures back Friday, authorities and the woman said.
Mikki Porretta had her car stolen from her garage in the 1000 block of Fairview Avenue about 6 p.m. Wednesday, Arcadia police said.
More than the loss of her 2008 Cadillac CTS, Porretta said she was upset over the loss of three cherished family photos that were in the trunk after she had just taken them to be re-framed.
After asking for the public’s assistance, Porretta said a good Samaritan found her car and called police.
“A woman who had read the Star-News was walking by and spotted my car,” she said. “I was so glad to get it back.”
Arcadia police Lt. Paul Foley said his department received a phone call about 10 a.m. Friday from someone who reported seeing a possibly stolen vehicle at Sunset Boulevard and Valley Drive, only blocks away from where it had been stolen.
“There was nothing missing except the spare tire,” he said.
