Man jailed after standoff in Pasadena

PASADENA — Police jailed a man early Saturday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and burglary early Saturday after a two-hour standoff, authorities said.
Christopher Ojeda, 27, of Pasadena was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail at the Pasadena Police Department jail, according to sheriff’s booking records.
The incident began about 1:30 a.m. when a man called police from the 700 block of East Villa Street to report his intoxicated neighbor, Ojeda, had broken into his house, threatened him with a gun and cut him with a knife, Pasadena police Lt. Pete Hettema said.
When police arrived, Ojeda had returned to his house and refused orders to come out for about two hours, the lieutenant said.
After police made numerous announcements via bullhorn and drove an armored vehicle up to Ojeda’s front door, he ultimately surrendered to police, Hettema said.
The injured neighbor suffered only a minor cut and was not hospitalized, he added.
Ojeda was expected to be arraigned Tuesday in Pasadena Superior Court.
