Man dies after shooting, fiery crash in Rosemead

ROSEMEAD -- A man died early Sunday after he was shot while driving in Rosemead and crashed his car, which burst into flames, authorities said.
The dead man was initially described only as a Latino man of about 30 years old pending notification of his family members, Los Angeles County Department of Coroner Investigator Courtney Morrow said.
A second man was wounded in the incident, which was reported shortly before 3 a.m. on Garvey, just West of Walnut Grove Avenue, Los Angeles County sheriff's officials said.
"We responded to a traffic collision and a shots fired called," Lt. Kerry Carter said.
Deputies found a Honda Accord engulfed in flames and an injured man sitting in the driver's seat, he said.
"Deputies pulled him out of the vehicle to try to render aid and discovered he was suffering from a gunshot wound," Carter said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, Morrow said. Coroner's investigators will determine this week whether the man died as a result of the gunshot wound or the fiery crash.
Officials spotted a second man running away from the burning car, Carter said.
"Deputies detained him and determined he had a gunshot wound also," he said.
The wounded man was hospitalized in unknown condition, officials said.
Some media reports indicated the crash resulted from a car-to-car gun battle, however sheriff's officials could not confirm that Sunday.
No information about a shooter was available.

I know Freddie is smiling down on everyone. Comforts my heart to see how loved he was by people in all differant walks of life. I deeply thank all the family, friends, and yes EM homeboys & girls, for the car washes and the time you dedicated to help my brother & sister-in-law get thru this heartbreak. Awesome to hear all the stories & each ended with everyone laughing. His happiness was his daughters and making others laugh. Bringing jokes & laughter especially to people like "anonymous". I can hear Freddie clowning him for that. Which indeed you are a nameless face, your words won't change who he truly was. You didn't get to see him die. You read five lines in the paper. The news and newspaper all had different stories. Respect Alfred Louis Beserra. You didn't know his life. He would have changed your misery into laughter. We all see that finger gesture about now!
