Officials identify man killed in alleged DUI crash in Pasadena

PASADENA — Coroner’s officials Friday released the name of a man who was fatally struck by an alleged drunken driver on the 210 Freeway.
Nestor Salan, 31, of Beaumont died at the scene of the crash, which took place bout 12:35 a.m. Thursday on the eastbound 210 Freeway, just east of Lake Avenue, Los Angeles County Department of Coroner’s Lt. David Smith.
David Peng, 24, of Arcadia was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and vehicular manslaughter in connection with the crash, California Highway Patrol officials said.
Salan’s Honda crashed into the center divider for unknown reasons and he exited the car, according to the CHP.
A BMW being driven by Peng then struck and killed Salan, officials said.
Peng was released from jail Thursday afternoon after posting $100,000 bail, booking records show.

Nestor was a very loved guy from everybody that new him and if it was the first time you met Nestor he always made a good impression and after that you became his friend because of the way he was and his characterism. We are still in shock and we are gonna miss Nestor forever. He was the unique, humorous, funny guy that always kept the party going. NESTOR U ARE VERY MUCH MISSED AND WE WILL FOREVER REMEMBER YOU FOREVER! WE LOVE YOU!!!

  2. Nestor, was a wonderful husband, son, brother, a fantastic teacher, a unique friend and he will be missed. Family friends and students are still shock and miss him very much. He was killed by an irresponsible drunk driver. Who destroyed the hope of a lot of students I hope he gets help for his drinking problems.
