Back yard shooting leaves man wounded in East Valinda

EAST VALINDA — Two men shot and wounded another man late Friday in an East Valinda back yard, officials said.
Two young men, 18 and 21, were in a back yard in the 17500 block of Northam Street about 9 p.m. when two intruders came into the yard and opened fire, Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Mark Stevens said.
The older man was hit once, while the younger man escaped injury, the lieutenant said. The injury did not appear to be life-threatening.
Officials said the attackers fled toward the front yard and into a silver, 4-door Nissan sedan.
They were described as Latino men in their early 20s. One was about 5 feet 5 inches tall and wore a checkered shirt and beige shorts. The other was about 5 feet 7 inches tall and wore a blue shirt and blue shorts.
The motive in the shooting was not clear Sunday night.
