PICO RIVERA — A group of gang members stabbed a young man to death early Sunday while crashing a backyard birthday party, authorities said.
The name of the dead man was not released pending notification of family members, coroner’s officials said.
The fatal attack was reported about 12:45 a.m. at a home in the 8700 block of Bradhurst Street, Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said in a written statement.
A birthday party was going on for two teenage girls prior to the incident, according to neighbors and sheriff’s officials.
“Ten to 15 uninvited gang members arrived and demanded entry to the party,” Deputy Lillian Peck said. “When their entry was refused, a fight ensued between the gang members and party patrons.”
A young man was stabbed in the melee and was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later, officials said.
“One gang member discharged a handgun several times into the crowd. No one was struck,” Peck said.
Investigators said the gang members then fled the area in several directions.
Sundays slaying was the first reported homicide of the year handled by the sheriff’s Pico Rivera Station.
According to sheriff’s statistics, the station saw five homicides last year — two within the Pico Rivera and three in the unincorporated county areas patrolled by the station.

From what I know this young man did not deserve this, he was a 3 year varsity football player at El Rancho High School and was a good kid. Its a dam shame what these gang members did to this young man with so much life ahead of him. Whoever you were, PN, PV or wherever you are from, you will pay for this dearly when you meet your maker.

It is a tragedy that another young life is taken by the hands of these pieces of garbage. This is the second El Rancho Student murdered in a matter of a few months. There was a 17 year old boy killed while walking his girlfriend home recently, the good members of Pico Rivera need to stick together and form some kind of group to combat this trash. My sympathies and condolences go out to the family and friends of this young man, I pray you get your justice.
This is such a tragedy … it just breaks my heart for that young mans family. When he left out the door to go to a birthday party, never did they think …that would be the last time they saw him. I have to ask myself ..what is this world coming too….I really hope they catch the gang members that did this crime..against this young man…and justice will be done…that still will not bring back that precious young man back to life….My prayers go out to all of his family and friends…and let it be said to the gang members that wanted to get in the party..was it really worth it… now someone’s son it gone …never going to go to his own graduation , to his own birthday , go to his own wedding , you killed a whole family…again… was it really worth it!!!
