64-year-old man struck by car in Arcadia

ARCADIA — A 64-year-old Arcadia man suffered severe injuries Sunday when he was struck by a car while crossing Santa Anita Avenue, police said.
The crash was reported about 6:05 p.m. on Santa Anita Avenue at Alta Street, Arcadia police Lt. Bob Anderson said in a written statement.
The pedestrian was walking east across the street when he was struck by a northbound vehicle, Anderson said.
He was hospitalized with severe injuries to his right shoulder and chest, the lieutenant said, though his exact condition was unclear.
Nothing criminal was initially suspected, and the driver of the vehicle, a 53-year-old Temple City man, was not cited or arrested.
The crash is being investigated by the Arcadia Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team.

  1. That is a horrible crosswalk where others have already been killed. It is really dark right there at night and drivers are more focused on the signal at Huntington. The city needs to put blinking lights there or this is going to keep happening.

  2. I have walked through this cross walk many many many of times and 70% of the time drivers do not look to see if someone is crossing and when they do see someone crossing some stop and some look at you like you are crazy for crossing apparently not aware of the california law that says you must stop.I happen to know Fred `cowboy`peterson and send him my best for a speedy recovery.get well soon cowboy…
