Norwalk man makes grave mistake

WHITTIER — A 25-year-old Norwalk man distraught over the death of his mother took a pickup truck from a worker for Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary at gunpoint Monday night, then flipped it as he tried to get out of the cemetery, authories say.

The suspect, whose name is being withheld until he can be interviewed, was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and carjacking, according to the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.

Police received a call from the suspect’s sister that he was drinking and on the way to his mother’s grave. At 6:35 p.m., deputies received a call from cemetery security guards about a depressed man, Cummins said.
