SOUTH EL MONTE – The eastbound lanes of the 60 Freeway were shut down for about 30 minutes Friday afternoon while Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies investigated a shooting involving an off-duty sheriff’s deputy and another motorist, authorities said.
The shooting was reported to the Temple City Sheriff’s station about 2:40 p.m. and the freeway was shut down between Rosemead Boulevard and Santa Anita Avenue about 3 p.m.
The motorist was said to have suffered from a non-life-threatening wound. The deputy, who was not identified, is believed to work at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles.
Sheriff’s officials released no further information late Friday.
