COVINA -- Authorities are seeking a man who carjacked a woman at knifepoint from the parking lot of a Wal-Mart store Wednesday.
The crime took place about 2 p.m. Wednesday at the store at 1275 N. Azusa Ave., Covina police Sgt. John Zumwalt.
A woman in her late 20s was sitting in the driver's seat of a white, 2008 Lexus IS 200 sedan when the carjacking occurred, the sergeant said. A woman in her 50's who had been with the driver was standing near the passenger side of the car.
A man approached, pulled a knife and ordered the driver out of the car, Zumwalt said. She complied, and the carjacker sped off south on Azusa Avenue.
Police described the carjacker as a Latino man in his mid-20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, of thin build and with a shaved head. He wore a blue flannel short-sleeve shirt and blue jeans.
Anyone who sees the car is asked to contact local police or call 9-1-1.
