Teenage bicyclist struck by car in Norwalk

NORWALK — A 15-year-old boy was taken to a trauma center in critical condition Friday after being struck by a car on Alondra Boulevard, authorities said.
Traffic detectives were in the early stages of their investigation, however it initially appeared that the boy was eastbound on Alondra Boulevard near Pioneer Boulevard about 3:11 p.m. when the collision occurred, Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Josie Woolum said.
A vehicle that was also heading east struck the teen, possibly as he began crossing the street, officials said.
Paramedics rushed him to a trauma center where he underwent surgery, however an update on his condition was not available.
The driver, a woman, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, Woolum said.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
