NORWALK -- Deputies arrested a Norwalk man Thursday after he kidnapped his 2-year-old daughter from his wife at gunpoint, then barricaded himself inside his home, authorities said.
Gerald Gibbons, 32, was booked on suspicion of kidnapping and making criminal threats, Lt. Dana Chemnitzer said.
Gibbons became involved in an argument with his wife shortly after 11 a.m. and told her to leave the house, the lieutenant said.
The wife took the couple's 2-year-old girl and went to a neighbors home, he said.
Minutes later, Chemnitzer said, Gibbons arrived at the neighbor's home demanding custody of his daughter and threatening to kill his wife if she didn't obey.
He then retrieved a shotgun from his own home and returned to the neighbor's house, where he demanded his daughter at gunpoint.
Fearing for their lives, the mother and neighbor let Gibbons take the girl, and he took his daughter back into their home.
When deputies arrived, Gibbons remained inside the home with the girl and refused to come out for about an hour, Chemnitzer said. He ultimately surrendered, and the girl was found unharmed inside the home.
Gibbons was being held in lieu of $150,000 bail, officials added.
