Marijuana farm busted in Whittier

WHITTIER – Police and Drug Enforcement Administration investigators served a warrant at a business Tuesday, uprooting about 300 to 400 marijuana plants, authorities said.
Kevin Stoner, 38, of Whittier was arrested on suspicion of cultivating marijuana, Whittier police Lt. Randy Inman said.
Officials served a search warrant in the early morning hours at a business in an industrial park in at 13420 Lambert Road, the lieutenant said. About 60 pounds of marijuana were found altogether, valued at more than $180,000, police said.
Stoner was taken into custody at the facility, officials added.
The upstairs business contained five separate growing rooms, each with marijuana plants in different stages of development.
With the hydroponic, filter and lighting systems involved, Inman described the operation as “pretty sophisticated.”
The Whittier house was found after DEA officials raided another in the Huntington Park area, officials said, though no further details of that raid were available.
The operation began in Huntington Park, where officials searched the home of Javier Gallindo, 36, who is believed to be responsible for the Whittier grow, Officer Jerry Reyes said.
Investigators found several pounds of processed marijuana, two handguns, two shotguns and a rifle at the home and arrested Gallindo, Reyes said.
The investigation then led officials to the industrial building in Whittier, police added.
According to sheriff’s booking records, Stoner was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail at the Whittier Police Department’s jail.
His initial court date was not available, however criminal suspects being held in custody are generally brought before a judge within two working days of arrest.

  1. Getting arrested and hurting one individual just trying to survive over plants! (( Sighhhhhh )) Legalization needs to come soon to help our economy and when that day soon comes i think they should compensate those who were wrongly arrested
