Burglary suspects arrested in South Pasadena

SOUTH PASADENA -- A report of suspicious activity led South Pasadena to arrest four burglary suspects Friday, including one who left his ID behind while fleeing the scene of the break-in, police said.
Kevin Adams, 18, Leandre Hewitt, 22, Christian Murphy, 19, and William Steed, 19, all of Los Angeles, were booked on suspicion of burglary, South Pasadena police Sgt. Brian Solinsky said.
Police responded to a report about 10:10 a.m. Friday of four men ringing doorbells and acting suspiciously in the 4900 block of Collis Avenue, the sergeant said.
Police found them in the neighborhood and detained them, and soon learned that all four were on probation or parole for burglary-related crimes, Solinsky said. The men each gave different stories about looking for a friend or relative, and items such as costume jewelry and foreign currency were found in their car.
South Pasadena police then learned that the four men were wanted in connection with a Tuesday break-in on Collis Avenue, just a few doors down and across the city line in Los Angeles, Solinsky said.
LAPD officers had stopped a car full of young men in connection with the break-in, but they fled on foot and escaped, police said.
An ID card was left behind at the scene, Solinsky added. The ID belongs to one of the men arrested Friday, though it was not immediately clear which one.
