SANTA FE SPRINGS -- A La Mirada man was beaten unconscious and carjacked early Wednesday after exiting the 5 Freeway, authorities said.
The carjacking was reported just before 4 a.m., when the victim arrived at Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital for treatment, Whittier police Lt. Randy Inman said.
The victim exited the freeway and pulled up behind a stopped vehicle, the lieutenant said.
"The driver of that vehicle got out and struck the victim in the head with an unknown object, rendering him unconscious," Inman said.
He woke up a short time later in some nearby bushes, and his car was missing, police said. He suffered a cut to his head and a possibly broken nose.
No description of the carjacker or carjackers was available.
