WHITTIER -- Police arrested a woman Friday after she kidnapped her 3-year-old daughter at knifepoint, as well as robbed and threatened the girlfriend of her daughter's father, authorities said.
Daliassa Aldana, 19, was being held in lieu of $135,000 bail at the Whittier Police Department's jail on suspicion of kidnapping, robbery, making terrorist threats and brandishing a weapon, according to Whittier police and sheriff's booking records.
Aldana showed up at a home in the 14300 block of Christine Drive shortly after 6 p.m., where she confronted the girlfriend of the father of her daughter, Whittier police Lt. Carlos Solorza said. The woman was in the home alone at the time.
Aldana demanded to know where her child was, he said, and ultimately grabbed a kitchen knife from the kitchen and threatened to stab the woman.
The father of the toddler and the child arrived at the home a short time later, and Aldana met the father in the front yard and threatened him with the knife as well, Solorza said.
When Aldana noticed the young girl was sitting in the father's car, she pulled the girl from the vehicle, still clutching the knife, police said.
Aldana then threw the knife before getting into a waiting cab, which drove off, Solorza said.
Whittier police soon found her at her home in Montebello, where she surrendered to officers and the girl was found unharmed.
Aldana is also suspected of stealing $40 in cash that was inside the home while she was there, Solorza said.
She was booked on suspicion of kidnapping, robbery, making terrorist threats and brandishing a weapon.
