UPDATE: CHP officials initially identified one of the victims as Fernando Cortez, however coroner's officials listed him as Fernando Valdes, also known as Fernando Valdes Cortes Jr.

HACIENDA HEIGHTS -- Two Hacienda Heights men died early Saturday when their car went over the side of Turnbull Canyon Road, authorities said.
Aaron Scott Ham, 27, and Fernando Valdes, 24, were pronounced dead at the scene of the 8:45 a.m. crash on Turnbull Canyon Road, just west of Skyline Drive, California Highway Patrol officials said in a written statement.
Ham was driving the car westbound at an unknown speed when, "for unknown reasons, (Ham) allowed (the car) to veer to the right and collide with the raised dirt berm of westbound Turnbull Canyon Road," according to the CHP statement.
The vehicle went over the side and ultimately came to a rest about 300 feet down an embankment, officials said.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation, and no further details were released.
Any witnesses to the crash are asked to call the Santa Fe Springs office of the CHP at 562-858-0503.

I passed by the scene of the accident earlier today. That turn was sharp but theres NO WAY anyone would miss that turn unless they were drunk...or blind. In my younger days, I would race down Turnbull Canyon and I know every turn like the back of my hand. If you dont respect the canyon, it'll eat you alive just like it did for these poor souls.
