Los Angeles man killed in Alhambra motorcycle crash

ALHAMBRA — A Los Angeles man died Friday after his motorcycle collided with a big rig on the 10 Freeway, officials said.
The name of the motorcyclist was not released Saturday pending notification of his family members, coroner’s officials said. California Highway Patrol officials initially described him as a 51-year-old Los Angeles man.
The crash occurred about 4:30 p.m. on the Garfield Avenue onramp to the westbound 10 Freeway, CHP officials said in a written statement.
“For unknown reasons, (the motorcyclist) was unable to negotiate a right turn to enter the normal lanes of traffic,” the statement said.
The rider then lost control of his 2008 Harley-Davidson Road King, which struck the right, rear portion of a big rig being driven by a 51-year-old Fontana man, according to the CHP.
The rider was then thrown from his motorcycle and was struck by the truck in the right lane of the Freeway, the statement said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

  1. I happened to be passing by right after this accident happened. It was very shocking. I thought, from a distance, that the man (who was dressed in black), was a blown tire or animal laying on the freeway. As I approached, I could see it was a man laying who appeared to be dead on the side of the freeway. He was badly mangled. Two trucks had stopped just ahead of the body, with both drivers coming back to the the injured man. It looked like it was too late. Such a tragedy!

It was so shocking! I cried as I continued slowly down the freeway.

Motorcycles are “accidents waiting to happen” on freeways. I don’t know what can be done about it, but it’s so dangerous now because there are more trucks and cars on the freeways than ever before (I grew up in the Los Angeles area). Therefore, motorcyclists are getting killed all the time. It’s very sad.

  2. It sad to hear what what happen to this man and the family he leaves behind I lost a close friend 2half yrs ago in a bike accident….. May he be in peace

  5. I happen to know Danny I had a motorcycle accident myself,it left me on a wheel chair permanently. I had just talked to him a couple of weeks ago after about three years that I hadn’t seen him, he was telling me how much he enjoyed riding his new bike and those rides with the pack. All l could tell him was to be careful out there because half of the time other drivers don’t see you and to be alert. Two days ago I learned about the accident and I’m really sad to hear about his death rest in peace Danny you will be missed such a nice and kind person……

  6. He was a nice and very cool neighbor that i had, the times we got to talk i’d say were interesting and i remember the last conversation we had was about his Harley on how much money he had spent on it and i always use to see him outside cleaning his Harley or just checking if anything else was missing lol but all in all he was my neighbor and friend.

    RIP D.S.

If his brother Art reads this, know that we cared for your your bro and will remember the things you both have done for people.Untill we meet on that long stretch of open road on the other side, rest in peace brother untill we ride again……..

  11. RIP Danny!

You were my neighbor, I remember I had a major crush on you. I knew what time you got home so I sat on the stairs and waited for you to walk by, you knew I had a crush on you and you always made to time to say hello and chat a little.

When we got older and I was of age I remember us talking I have wonderful memories of you.

May your family be consoled at the fact that you were loved by many.

  12. I live right off garfield. The way you enter the freeway on that onramp was changed not too long ago. It is very dangerous. You have no time to merge. You’re just thrown into traffic. I always see people having trouble entering the freeway there. It was poorly designed!

  14. why is everyone shocked? they call them death machines for a reason. hahaha dumbfuck. everday i see these dumbfucks think they are so bad on their bikes driving all loud and fast as if they own the road and have the right to make as much noise as they want. it’s obvious they don’t care about other motorists. so fuck them, all u bikers, die the same death motherfuckers!! hahaha on the side of a freeway with ur guts spilling out!! hahahaha flat as a pancake is ur faith. no i don’t feel sorry for ur dumbass, just die and let me get to work. thankyou.
