Man stabbed while celebrating birthday in South El Monte

SOUTH EL MONTE -- A young man was wounded in a stabbing while celebrating his birthday early Saturday, authorities said.
Deputies responded to reports of an assault about 1:25 a.m. in the 1500 block of Millet Avenue, Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Richard Mariscola said.
They found a man in his 20s suffering from stab wounds to his shoulder, the sergeant said.
The stabbing took place during a birthday party for the victim, he said.
Further details, including a suspect description, were not available.
