Frank Chung.jpegNORWALK -- A Norwalk tutor was behind bars Friday on suspicion of molesting a 13-year-old student, authorities said.
Frank Chung, 63, of La Palma was being held in lieu of $1 million bail at the Los Angeles County sheriff's Norwalk Station, according to sheriff's officials and county booking records.
He's the owner of the Kumon Math and Reading Center, 11657 The Plaza, where he has worked for five years, Sgt. Dan Scott of the sheriff's Special Victims Bureau said.
"The incident was reported to Norwalk patrol deputies on September 6, 2011, after the 13-year-old female victim was overheard telling one of her siblings of the inappropriate sexual contact with the suspect on several occasions," Scott said.
Special Victims Bureau detectives launched an investigation and arrested Chung without a struggle Thursday at his La Palma home, officials said.
"Based on the investigation, Detectives from the Special Victims Bureau believe there are more victims and are requesting help from the public," Scott said.
"(Chung) has worked in a similar capacity at centers in northern California for the past 25 years.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Special Victims Bureau at 877-710-5273.
