Shooting reported at Kennedy park in Pomona
POMONA -- A man was shot and wounded at Kennedy Park Thursday, police said.
Officers responded to reports of gunshots at the park, 1150 Fairplex Drive, about 11:50 a.m., Pomona police Sgt. Matt Stone said.
Witnesses also reported seeing a person running through the athletic field at nearby Ganesha High School and into a neighborhood, but police found no suspects or victims in the area.
About 20 minutes later, officials at an area emergency room reported receiving a 27-year-old Pomona man with a gunshot wound to his lower body, the sergeant said. The wound was not believed to be life-threatening.
No suspect information was available Thursday afternoon, and a motive in the shooting was unclear.
Ganesha High School was placed on lock-down for about 45 minutes during the investigation, police said.
