Glendora man found competent to stand trial for father’s killing

IRWINDALE — A judge ruled Thursday that a Glendora man accused of killing his father with a dumbbell at an Irwindale storage facility is mentally competent to stand trial, court officials said.
Jonathan Pedraza, 25, is charged with the Sept. 10 murder of 62-year-old Miguel Pedraza of Glendora at A-1 Mini Storage, 4391 Irwindale Avenue.
He fled the scene after driving a car through a security gate enclosing the facility, then became involved in another hit-and-run crash in Baldwin Park, officials said.
A motive in the killing has not been released.
At his mental competency hearing in Pomona Superior Court, Jonathan Pedraza was ordered to West Covina Superior Court for a hearing Oct. 25.
