MONROVIA -- A man died early Friday after being shot in what was initially believed to be some sort of domestic incident, authorities said.
The dead man's identity was not released pending notification of his family members, Monrovia police Lt. Jaime Alfaro said. Detectives initially described him as a white man in his mid-60s.
The shooting was reported about 5:20 a.m. inside a home in the 200 block of North Mayflower Avenue, Alfaro said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Monrovia police officers responded to a disturbance," said Lt. Mike Rosson of the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau, which is assisting Monrovia police with the investigation. "En route to the call, it was updated that shots were fired, and there was a gunshot victim."
Arriving officers found the man shot to death inside the home, Rosson said. A man and woman in their 30s who were also inside the home were questioned.
"They went to the police department on their own free will to cooperate with the investigation," he added.
No arrests had been made Friday morning, however Rosson said that investigators did not believe there were any outstanding suspects.
The circumstances of the shooting remained under investigation.
The man who was fatally shot had just moved into the home from out of state about two weeks ago, Rosson said. It was unclear what his relationship with the man and woman was.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
