SOUTH SAN GABRIEL -- A Pomona man died Wednesday after his car crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with another car, authorities said.
Yung Hsi Han, 38, of Pomona, died in the 1:50 p.m. crash on Rosemead Boulevard, just south of San Gabriel Boulevard, Los Angeles County Department of Coroner's Assistant Chief of Operations Ed Winter said.
Han was driving a 1996 Saturn northbound on Rosemead Boulevard when, "For unknown reasons, (Han's) vehicle crossed over the raised concrete median that divides northbound traffic from southbound traffic, directly into the path of (a 2009 Toyota being driven by a 74-year-old Monterey Park man)," California Highway Patrol officials said in a written statement.
The driver of the Toyota was unable to avoid colliding with the Saturn, officials said.
Han was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota was hospitalized with moderate injuries.
The crash is being investigated by the East Los Angeles office of the CHP.
