EL MONTE -- Four attackers slashed a man in his hand Tuesday during a failed robbery outside a Chinese restaurant, officials said.
The crime took place about 1 p.m. near a restaurant in the 10000 block of Valley Boulevard, just east of Baldwin Avenue, El Monte police Sgt. Roger Cobian said.
The victim, a man in his 40s, was approached by four robbers described only as Latino men, the sergeant said.
They demanded property from the man, but he gave them nothing, Cobian said.
One of the robbers lunged at the man with a knife, cutting him on the hand, he said. The victim was treated at a local hospital and released later in the day.
The attackers were not found.
