WHITTIER -- A man was seriously injured but expected to survive after being stabbed in the neck late Monday, authorities said.
Officers responded to reports of a man "covered in blood" about 11:45 p.m. in the 12200 block of Whittier Boulevard, Whittier police Officer Bradley White said.
The wounded man was a 56-year-old old Whittier-area transient, Whittier police Officer Bradley White said.
The man was found apparently trying to make his way to nearby Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital, White said. Paramedics took him to another hospital where he was rushed into surgery and listed in stable condition Monday.
In addition to the stab wound to his neck, he also suffered trauma to the back of his head, police said.
No suspect was in custody early Tuesday, police said, and no further details of what took place were available.
