SANTA FE SPRINGS -- Whittier police are seeking witnesses to a Santa Fe Springs car crash that left a La Mirada man dead late last month.
Marshall James Doeve, 24, died at a hospital shortly after the two-car crash, which took place about 2:30 a.m. Oct. 30 at Telegraph Road and Shoemaker Avenue, according to police and coroner's officials.
Following the crash, Whittier police officers arrested the driver of the other car, 32-year-old Juan Mora of Whittier, on suspicion of drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter, Whittier police officials said.
"Supposedly, their were several witnesses present when this occurred," Whittier police Officer Bradley White said.
Police asked that anyone who saw the crash contact Sgt. Rob Hanson at 562-567-9256.
Investigators said Doeve was driving a Chevrolet Lumina that collided with a GMC Yukon being driven by Mora, who was allegedly driving under the influence.
Mora was initially booked into the Whittier Police Department's jail in lieu of $100,000 bail, county booking records show, but he was picked up by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents Friday and transferred to federal custody due to an immigration hold.
His initial court date was not available.
