SCE to open distribution centers to provide basics to those still without power

Southern California Edison plans to open distribution centers today offering basic necessities such as flashlights, water and ice to the more than 96,000 customers still affected by power outages, officials said.
Crews have been slowly but steadily restoring power to more than 200,000 customers since early Thursday, when hurricane force Santa Ana winds ripped apart electrical infrastructure throughout the San Gabriel Valley. Outages were expected to continue through Sunday evening, when 99 percent restoration is predicted, SCE spokesman David Song said.
The distribution centers are scheduled to open at noon. They include:
The Altadena Community Center, 730 E. Altadena Drive; Los Angeles County Regional Park in Arcadia, at Huntington Drive and Santa Anita Avenue; La Canada Flintridge Community Park, 1327 Foothill Blvd., Fire Station 51 in San Gabriel, 1303 S. Del Mar Ave.;  Memorial Park in Sierra Madre, 222 W. Sierra Madre Blvd.; and Temple City Hall, 9701 Las Tunas Ave.
