Suspect arrested in Montebello robbery

MONTEBELLO — Two men allegedly robbed another man of $150 and a Starbucks gift card on Tuesday but were caught while fleeing with the loot.
Montebello police Lt. Rick Rojas said police recovered a gun used in the robbery but didn’t find the stolen items.
A 21-year-old Montebello man was robbed at 1:11 p.m. on Whittier Boulevard and Bluff Road by a gunman and his accomplice.
Lt. Andy Vuncanon said after taking the man’s wallet, one of the suspects punched the 21-year-old in the back of the head.
The victim sustained minor injuries but declined medical treatment, Vuncanon said.
Both robbers ran in the riverbed toward the railroad tracks. Officers caught one suspect then later found the second suspect in the railroad tunnel, Rojas said.
Montebello residents Cody Aguilar, 19, and Alejandro Roca, 36, were arrested on suspicion of robbery. They were being held at Montebello jail.
