DIAMOND BAR — A burglar escaped but left his car behind after breaking into a home Thursday, authorities said.
The incident began about 1:20 p.m. when officials received word of a burglary at a home in the 1000 block of Longview Drive, Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Joe Chavez.
Deputies responded to the area and found that the suspect had left, but a witness pointed them to a car parked about a block away where the burglar ditched it and ran into an open field, Chavez said.
Deputies set up a search perimeter but called off the manhunt about three hours later, officials said.
Officials described the suspect as a white man in his 20s, standing about 6 feet tall.
Investigators were working to see if the car, which was registered to San Diego, would yield clues that would lead them to the suspect, Chavez added.
