Man attacked, robbed of bicycle in Irwindale

IRWINDALE — A bicyclist was punched in the head and robbed of his mountain bike Friday night.
Irwindale police later caught the alleged thief and found the bicycle in neighboring Baldwin Park.
A pedestrian punched a bicyclist as he was riding by Azusa Canyon Road and Cypress Street at 6:28 p.m., according to Irwindale police Sgt. Greg Gomez.
When the victim fell, Gomez said the suspect fled with the black mountain bike with LED lights. He said the bicyclist, a man in his 40s, was treated for complaint of pain to the head.
An officer later saw a man on a black mountain bike with LED lights at Badillo Street and Puente Avenue. He tried to talk to the man who rode away.
Gomez said the man was found running down the side of an alley near the Baldwin Park Teen Center on Badillo Street. Officers arrested the man on suspicion of robbery and also found the bicycle he abandoned.
The suspect was booked at Glendora jail. His name, age and city of residence weren’t available as of late Friday night.
